Egg Scattering Fish

Breeding Egg Scattering fish

What types of egg scatters do you have?

-Spawning mops are used to imitate long grassy aquatic plants

-River rocks or marbles on the bottom of the fish tank separate parents and eggs

-Sponge filters are idea as they wont suck up the eggs that are scattered around the aquarium

Do you ever notice them chasing one another in the morning?

Maybe you have a group or pair breeding.

What kind of egg scatters do you want to keep, any questions on them?

Filtration for breeding tanks

The Variety of Egg Scatterers

-Sponge filters would best serve the eggs and fry.

-Breeding tanks should be used once to ensure older fry don't eat younger fry

-Water pumps may collect eggs, and filter them out of the water.

Breeding goldfish

-carps, trout, salmon, danios, Rainbow fish,

Tetra fish, Barbs

What are Egg Scatterers ?

Long fin White cloud minnows

-Two nights in a row 75% water change

-The tank was placed in a cooler area of the house

-Added ice cubes both nights

-20 gallon long with sponge filter and 2 spawn mops

Making a Spawn Mop

-Fish that release eggs, which either fall to the bottom, or stick to plants

-These fish don't raise their fry, instead they would eat them!

-Usually breeding in groups to spread as many eggs as possible

Do you keep egg scattering fish, what kind are they?

1.Wrap a book with yarn 50-75 times

2. Bunch one side of the yard and tie together (can also add cork)

3.Opposite of the tied end cut the yarn, giving it a mop hair cut!

4.Boil the mop to take the dye color out!
