A formula is an expression used to calculate a desired result, such as a formula to find volume

Ex: Formulas can also be equations involving numbers and/or variables, such as Euler's formula.

ZERO SLOPE

VERTICAL ANGLES

A zero slope is the slope of a horizontal line.

A good example of a zero slope is the sunset on the horizon.

Vertical angles are each of the pairs of opposite angles made by two intersecting lines.

A god example is a railroad crossing sign.

U

WASHER

STRAIGHT ANGLE

T

A washer is the region between two concentric circles which have different radii.

A good example is you can find the volume of a shape using th washer method.

UNDEFINED SLOPE

TRAPEZOID

A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with exactly one parallel of sides.

A good exmaple of a trapezoid is the table shown below.

Q

Ex.

A straight angle is an angle that measures at exactly 180 degrees.

A good example of a straight angle is a line.

QUADRILATERAL

An undefined slope is the slope of a vertical line. The x-coordinate never changes no matter what the y-coordinate is.

A good example of an undefined slope is the Twin Towers because it wet vertically. An undefined slope goes up and down and that's how these buildings are built.

A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides.

A good example of a quadrilateral is a kite.

X

X-AXIS

The x-axis is the horizontal axis.

A good example of the x-axis is the latitude of the globe.

P

PERPENDICULAR

Perpendicular means the relationship between two lines in which they meet at a right angle.

A good example for perpendicular is a SmartBoard. It has two sets of perpendicular lines on the side and bottom.

A

ACUTE ANGLE

D

DECAGON

An acute angle is an angle that is less than 90 degrees. It is smaller than both a right angle and an obtuse angle.

A good example of an acute angle is a small slice of pizza. It is usually way less than a right angle and totally less than an obtuse angle.

O

OBTUSE ANGLE

A decagon is a polygon with ten sides.

A good example of a decagon is this coin with Queen Elizabeth the Second on it which people may use to but items.

An obtuse angle is an angle that exceeds 90 degrees but does not exceed 180 degrees.

A good example of an obtuse angle could be a reclined chair. People tend to recline their chairs backward so this is a great example.

R

RIGHT ANGLE

A right angle is an angle that measures exactly 90 degrees.

An example of a right angle is a cross. It has a few right angles actually.

C

CONGRUENT

Congruent in geometry means equal in sides or segments. Corresponding sides, angles, and faces are congruent.

A good example for congruent would probably be identical twins. They have the exact same features and don't differ in features.

B

Y

BISECT

J

Y-AXIS

A bisect is a division into two parts. It is divided into two equal parts and can't be unequal.

An example of a bisect could be a KLM plane. The KLM plane is symmetrical so this is correct.

JOINT VARIATION

Definition: The vertical axis

A good example of the y-axis is the longitude of a globe.

M

When we say z is jointly proportional to a set of variables, it means that z is directly proportional to each variable taken one at a time.

Ex:

MIDPOINT OF A SEGMENT

H

HYPOTENUSE

The midpoint of a segment is the point halfway between the

endpoints of a line segment. A midpoint divides a line segment into two segments congruently.

An example of this could be a stop sign at a street. It can be halfway between a road and the other side of the road.

G

A hypotenuse e opposite side to a right triangle.

A good example of a hypotenuse is a ladder leaning against a wall.

GEOMETRY

Geometry is the branch of mathematics concerned with the properties and relations of points, lines, surfaces, solids, and higher dimensional analogs.

An example of geometry being used in the real world is the volume of 3 dimensional objects such as cubes, cylinders, pyramids, and spheres can be computed using geometry.

I

INCLUDED ANGLE

L

LINE

An included angle is an angle between two sides of a triangle. It doesn't matter which angle is used as long as it shows the purpose.

A good example of an included angle would be a Laughing cow (La vache qui rit) single packet of cheese. The included angle is the angle.

F

A line is an extending pattern that goes on infinitely in one direction.

A great example of a line the Solar System. For all we know it could be an infinite line.

E

FORMULA

ENDPOINTS

Endpoints are the beginning or end mark of a ray or segment. Line segments have 2 endpoints while rays only have one endpoint so they cannot be measured

A good example for a ray would be a pencil because it eventually ends and a good example for a segment is a road because it runs on two sides.

N

NUMERATOR

K

KITE

A numerator is the top part of a fraction.

A good example of a numertor is :

A kite is a quadrilateral with two pairs of consecutive sides congruent and no opposite sides congruent.

A good and only example I can find is flying a kite.
