There are many different paths that an Evolutionary Biologist can take; some study the changes in humans or animals through time. While others might study a virus to understand how it develops a resistance to a vaccine.An Evolutionary Biologist conducts basic research, in which they seek to expand understanding, or applied research, in which they take knowledge and apply it to developing new products or tools.

Their job is to assist the evolutionary biologist on the project that he/she is conducting. They may have to order equipment and have to assemble it as well as washing glass wear that is used during experiments.
Most higher ranking Evolutionary biologist may work in a laboratory conducting experiments or studying organisms in their natural environment. Although most work in an office where they will write reports and articles about their research.

Evolutionary Biology is not a field for me; I do think that this should be a respected field in biology. But, I would not like having to study for seven years after college just to be able to conduct independent research. I also think that I would get bored with evolution and watch how things evolve over and over again.
