Pen vs Sword

Inventions

The inventions that piggy-backed off of communication were ones such as the radio, computer and internet. These inventions not only allowed our society to be more connected but it also allowed information to spread quicker and more efficiently during this time period. For example, the internet today affects many people with almost a third of our 6.8 billion population using it everyday for things such as recreation and research. The radio is still used today to pass along information and make our communication simpler. Lastly, the computer is still being improved to do bigger and better things. It is definitely an invention that will always be advancing our communication.

Individualism

The Pen Is Mightier

During this time of enlightenment and Renaissance, people were beginning to stray away from society's ways and become an individual. New ideas spread through Europe as reading became more common and people began spending their time reading and writing poetry or painting. Due to the printing press, new ideas were spread quicker allowing there to be new ideas for recreation in everyday life. Originally, reading was seen as a novelty only for the wealthy, however, this changed quickly as reading soon became a part of every ones lives as it was no longer unusual. Ideas began to brew and people began to live an individualistic life rather than their originally structured lives. Inventions in communication brought life back into the world.

After researching the concepts of the pen and the concepts of the sword, I find it obvious that the pen is mightier due to the advancements in science, individualism amongst the population and the inventions that were closely connected to it. Our communication skills improved as we gained more knowledge more efficiently. Overall, the pen was a more sufficient theory than the sword was. It allowed us to grow in knowledge in order to advance the theory of the sword.

Thesis

Looking further into the topic of the pen being mightier than the sword, I have come to the conclusion that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword due to the advancements in science, individualism and the inventions that were connected to it.

Scientific Advancements

The printing press was said to be the most important invention in communication. The printing press was in fact, the spark that lit the communication world on fire. As a result of the printing press the scientific revolution began as scientists could now share their theories and discoveries much more efficiently with other scientists. This specific invention allowed scientists to write down their findings, copy them multiple times and share them with other scientists.
