Motor Neurons

*A pathway so that impulses from the brain or spinal cord can reach the muscle or gland.

*You start to sweat because you are hot, that is due to motor neurons sending a message to glands.

Sensory Neurons

peripheral Nervous system

*The remaining nervous system outside the brain and spinal cord.

*You smell a cooking pie, the receptors send the information to your brain.

* Convert external stimuli into internal electrical impulses.

*Your muscles contracting becuase of an electrical shock.

Somatic Nervous System

*Associates with the peripheral nervous system

*You throw a ball without having to thinking about it.

Inter neurons

Parasympathetic nervous system

Sympathetic Nervous System

*Conserves energy, and relaxes the muscles

*When your body needs to regain energy this takes over and relaxes you.

*Makes you nervous when something bad happens

*The morning of the AP test and you feel scared and nervous.

Autonomic Nervous System

*Controls body functions

* You need to breathe, but your body does it automatically

*Help sensory and motor neurons communicate.

*You get a ball thrown at you and you have a fast reflex and dodge it.

Nervous System

Central Nervous System

*Controls the functions of the body and mind.

*Moving your hand to pick up an apple so that you can eat it.

*A complex system of nerves and cells that carry messages from the brain to parts of the body.
