Kappa Andromedae b

Super - Jupiter

Kappa Andromedae b is a dwarf star or a planet. The reason scientists can't decide is because it can produce its own fusion. It is also called super - Jupiter because its is a gas giant larger than Jupiter

Below is a picture of Kappa Andromedae b

Kappa Andromedae b is 12.8 times the mass of Jupiter's. It also orbits its star about twice the distance away as Neptune orbits the sun, or to be specific, it is 1.8 times farther.

Below is a near - infrared image of the Kappa Andromedae b and Kappa Andromedae, also Neptune's orbit.

Kappa Andromedae b is located with the star Kappa Andromedae which is 2.5 times the mass of the sun and near the constellation of Pegasus. It is 170 light years away from us. The star is only 30 million years old, a young star compared to the sun which is 5 billion years old.

Here is another picture with the location of Kappa Andromedae and Kappa Andromedae b.

The temperature of Kappa Andromedae b is 2,600 degrees Fahrenheit (1,400 degrees Celsius)

They found the planet with the Subaru telescope in Hawaii.

Key Ideas:
