Military advancements of the 20th century

Browning M1919

AH-1Z VIPER

Helicopters

Kevlar

Originally designed for the defence of bombers in flight the 50. machine gun was put on tanks and jeeps as an anti personnel weapon. this weapon is still in service today.

In the early to mid 20th century the only way for US personnel to be deployed into combat was for them to parachute in or to be deployed from the ground. In the late 50's the Helicopter was invented and troops were now able to be quickly deployed from an arial lift of vehicle with the ability to take part in combat from a low orbit over the battlefield. This made it qicker and esier for reinforcements to arrive and for troops to be medivaced.

IMTV

The IMTV is a newer model of body armor that uses steel plates instead of Kevlar padding, it is more maneuverable and way lighter than the old Kevlar modeled vests.

Te viper is a later adaptation of the AH-1 super cobra which was an attack helicopter used during Vietnam. The viper caries a 20mm anti personnel chain gun that fires at 1200 rpm (rounds per minute), and caries two hell fire missile pods and 4 AGMs. (air to ground missiles)

Kevlar is an impact resistant material that was developed during the 60's as protective equipment for us personnel. Kevlar was heavy and thick and brought down the maneuverability of the soldier wearing it, But it did reduce us casualties when it was deployed.

Humvee

Thermal Optics

the hm114v was designed to be a heavily armed and armored replacement for the famous Willis jeep. it is armored on all sides and has a swivel mounted machine gun on top. It was developed in late 70's and deployed in the early 80's.

C-130

During the mid 20th century the us military used downward facing scopes to identify targets and locate drop areas for bomb, this became a hard job at nights because there was n way to verify what was in sight below. With thermal optics and Ir strobes it has become easier to identify friendly and hostile forces from the air.

After WWII the B-22s were quickly becoming out dated, and the us military started expirimenting with different designs and engines to be able to switch the old bombers out of service. In the late stages of Vietnam the C-130 came into service as a cargo plane and later a personnel carrier.

A10 Warthog

The A10 warthog is an anti tank aircraft with an 8-GAU gatling gun under the nose cone. it fires a 30mm AP round and has AGM missiles under each wing.

The uniform

M16a2

Barrette M107

The m16a2 is a shoulder fires gas operated fully automatic rifle that fires a 5.56x45 ball projectile at 2800 fps. It was designed during Vietnam to take the place of the M14 assault rifle. The m16a2 is lighter and more accurate than its predecessors.

the M107 is classified as an anti material rifle. It fires a 50. BMG with a muzzle velocity of 3000fps. It is capable of punching through any personal armor at over 2000yds. It was designed and employed by the US military in the mid 90's.

At the beginning of the 20th century the U.S. military used flat natural colors on their uniforms. then during the Vietnam war camouflage was introduce. camo is broken color patterns used to blend into the surrounding environment. Then with the progression of military technology the camo we used became obsolete, so during the late 90's the Marine corp issued new digital camo to its men who were deployed. The digital camo made it hard fot enemy cameras and drones to differentiate between the surrounding areas and the forces on the ground.

FV-22 Osprey

The osprey was developed during Vietnam, but due to flight malfunctions it was pushed back for years until the late 80's when it was upgraded and fixed up for active deployment. It is an aircraft that can switch between vertical and horizontal takeoff because of the duel tilt rotors on both wings. it is currently only employed by the US Marines.

M1 Abrams

Aircraft carrier

AH-64 apache

M1a1 bradley

The m1 Abrams is a heavy main battle tank. it was developed in the late 80's to combat the Russian t80s. The Abrams fires a 125mm projectile and has a 50. coaxial machine gun.

the aircraft carrier was designed in 1910 and deployed before the start of wwii. This ship made air support quickly avaliable for troops on the ground by being close by just of the coast of the country of conflict.

IFAK

The ah64 apache is a heavy attack helicopter designed in the 80's for anti tank, and anti personnel warfare. It has two engines and a tilted rotor to help it quickly accelerate to and from the battlefield.

The FA/18 hornet

The IFAK is an independent first aid kit that is issued to every soldier on deployment in the us military. It contains every thing from ace wrap to tourniquets. These were issued so soldiers wouldn't need to wait for the medic to receive first aid.

M203 grenade launcher

The m1a1 bradley is an armored personnel carrier with a 20mm chain gun on the top and 245mm of armored skirting around the sides and back of the vehicle.

Developed in the late 80's the m203 was made to be a versitile attatchment for m4/m16 rifles and made it easier for infantry units to pin down and eliminate hostile forces from a distance. this also made deployment less dangerous becaus they weren't required to carry as many hand thrown grenades/ ordinance as they did in previous conflict.

The fa/18 hornet is a twin engined multiple role combat jet. It was developed on Jan. 7th 1983 and was used for anything from air to air combat to laser designated airstrikes.
