Reynold's Death is Cactastrophic / Date: July 1st, 1863

Joshua Chamberlain had to take in 120 mutineers from Maine and was ordered to shoot any if they disobeyed. He was heartbroken when he heard that since he is from Maine and thought he could never come back to Manie if he did shoot one of them. So he decided for them to make their decision to fight in the battle or not fight but they were not allowed guns who didn't fight and ones who did fight were allowed guns to fight with. Out of the 120 mutineers 116 chose to fight while only four decided not to fight. Since Chamberlain was running short on men since he only had 250 this made his unit stronger and boosted his moral.

When Reynold died the Union army was in total chaos since no one else was in charge of the point so the Union was forced to retreat before their was even more casualties.
