What is a scythe in the novel?

The novel "Scythe" takes place in the future year 2042. In 2042 it is a very futuristic world. It is a world where they have overcome natural death, government, and have stopped counting the years. 2042 is a time where people constantly commit suicide because they think its is fun and where all humans are constantly living in fear that a scythe will come for them any second.,

Neil Shusterman is an American writer from Brooklyn, New York. He began writing from an early age. From then on he began to write movie script, commercial scripts, and novels. Neil Shusterman has received many awards from his famous books. The most popular things he has done in his carrer was writing the script to the movie "Goosebumps" and writing the famous novel "Challenger Deep."

In the novel a scythe is a person chosen specifically by society to take upon the duties of killing others in socitey due to the over population. A scythe normally kills each person in a different way with a different scythe or weapon. (the scythes use scythes to kill people.)
