Tyrell says this to Novisha when he finds out that she was cheating on him. Ironically, Tyrell was cheating on her the whole time as well.

"Ima make sure they don't bring no drugs in my party. I do things right. I can make some good money like my pops was making" (P.66)

His father used to be a DJ. So Tyrell decides to take his dad's old DJ equipment and throw a party and charge people to come. He's trying to make some money for his family.

"I'm out. I slam the door behind me when I leave." (P.301)

Tyrell finally has enough of his mom and decides to move out and live on his own after he just made some money.
