06.04 Imperialism

Imperialism in china

Due to imperialism China's economy boomed. As a result many nations including Britain, France, and Russia turned their eyes towards China and the potential wealth to be made from entering its markets.China gained wealth and power as a result of imperialism. China also became more diverse as a result of more lucrative opportunity arising in its booming economy. Chinas silk road was influenced by outside forces which helped lead to the nation growing in power. Now imperialism is the same allowing for momentous benefits that would have been otherwise far harder to attain

what good even is imperialism? The chinese economy didn't start out as a booming powerful market. It took the british pumping opium and even having the opium wars for china to get even close to where it is now. They initially tried to refuse british entrance to their market through opium but upon losing the war had too accept. Soon an opium addiction became an epidemic in china and as a result more wars and additional drug related issues arose. Overall no good can come of imperialism. Imperialism only rewards those who play unfairly and those who try and resist are forced to suffer the brunt of the damage. And as for the belief that china needed imperialsim to prosper that is just illogical as china was able to survive before it became overrun by imperialistic nations.
