Falling Action

Resolution

Amalia reads the letters from her grandmother over and over. She got past her grandmothers death and moved on but she still hears Abuelita's voice in her mind telling her the right thing.

Amalia found out that she is special without her best friend near her. Amalia writes letters to her relatives even her very own best friend Martha. Amalia recoverd from Abuelita's death and goes back to school, but she still listens to her grandmother.

Quick Resolution

The climax in the story is when Abuelita Amalia's grandmother died. Abuelita's heart slowed down after she reached the hospital. Amalia's heart was shattered in pieces when she heard the news.

Whenever Amalia is feeling downhearted, gloomy or inflamed Abuelita would make Homemade Taffy. They would sit down in the living room to tell stories about her relatives.Sometimes she would share some of her letters that she send faraway and some of the responses that she got back to cheer her up.

Amalia's best friend Martha is moving away to Florida (West Coast) for her dad's new job. Amalia is feeling angry and sad about the problem.

Amalia feels like Martha is being carefree about their friendship and. Amalia thinks that Martha is behaving the same way as her mother thinking that is a happy occasion for everyone.

Amalia thinks that she can not accomplish anything without her friend and that she is not special.

The conflict in this story is that Amalia's best friend Martha is moving away from where she used to live to West Coast in California because her father got a new job. Amalia is angry and sad that her only best friend that she had was leaving her.
