  • WAOE is a MyNetworkTV-affiliated television station located in Peoria, Illinois. It broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 39 (or virtual channel 59.1 via PSIP) from a transmitter at its studios on Springfield Road located in East Peoria (along I-474).
  • WAOE is owned by Four Seasons Broadcasting, WAOE is operated through a joint sales agreement by the Granite Broadcasting Corporation (owner of NBC affiliate WEEK-TV). It shares facilities with that station and ABC/CW affiliate WHOI (which is operated by WEEK-TV through a separate JSA and a shared services agreement).
  • Some of the programs on WAOE are How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Judge Judy, and The Doctors among others.

  • The Warner Brother's (WB) Television Network and UPN announced the two networks would end broadcasting and merge on January 24, 2006.
  • The new combined service would be called The CW. The CW name is derived from the first letters of CBS and Warner Bros.
  • The CW Television Network launched on September 18, 2006.
  • Although the television network launched on September 18, its first T.V. launch was on September 20 when it aired its first two-hour premiere of America's Next Model.
  • On February 22, 2006, MyNetworkTV launched. It was created to compete with The CW.
  • March 15, 2006, WAOE became MyNetworkTV's outlet.
  • Once this happened, WBPE (Operated by WHOI) became the areas CW station.

The Merge

  • On December 1, 2008, WAOE shut down its analog signal on UHF Channel 59 and became Digital-Exclusive.
  • Although WAOE is owned by Four Seasons Broadcasting, it is operated through the Joint Sales Agreement (JSA) by Granite Broadcasting.
  • Granite Broadcasting is operated by Quincy Newspapers.
  • Quincy will continue to provide services to WAOE, however, their JSA will terminate at the end of 2014.
