Our Revamped Juicy-O Drink

"Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing"

Now that you've finalized your recipe, you'll want to create a recipe card for your new drink. This will be done on an index card and submitted for a grade. Make sure to include how much and what juice you used to make your drink. Use the following recipe card example to help you get started. Make your card visually appealing, add color, use good handwriting, and illustrations.

Lastly...

Now that your recipe card is made, everyone will take turns trying out each other's recipes. Follow the directions carefully and enjoy your newly made Juicy-O!!

While you try to perfect your drink flavor and color, you'll want to record how much of each juice you are putting into your cup. If you do not like how your drink turns out, then try again. And again. Make sure to record everything so that when you finally have what you want, you'll have accurate measurements and will be able to make your favored drink again.

We read in Chapter 2 about the Yarbys visiting the Hatchers. Mr. Yarby is the president of Juicy-O: a drink made with oranges , grapefruits, pineapples, pears, and bananas. We are going to make a revised Juicy-O drink. You will be working in groups of 3 and come up with a new Juicy-O recipe. You will also come up with a new name for your drink while still using Juicy-O in part of the name. Ex. Juicy-O 2.0 . . .

Your individual grade for this assignment will be determined on what you share on the assignment form on the Weebly website. Your group will also get a grade for your recipe card. Check out the rubric below. It serves as a guideline and so you know the expectations for this assignment.

And... just for fun -- we will vote on our favorite revised Juicy-O drink. Don't forget to cast your votes below!

Things to Consider

on liquid measurements.

When mixing up a new combination of juices for Juicy-O, you'll need to consider flavor and perhaps color appeal. If this drink were to be advertised, would it be successful if it were a brown or black color? This is what I mean about color appeal.
