Food
The Wahaya were the first people to produce steel. They used termite clay to produce a furnace to smelt iron ore.
Food items that are unique to the Wahaya tribe are senene and kum.
Haya Tribe
Produce
The Haya people produce many crops but their largest harvest is Bananas.
Many families live on banana plantations. For income they take their harvest to the sokoni where they will sell them.
Language
The Wahaya people speak Kihaya. In 1991 there was an estimated 1,200,000 people who spoke Kihaya.

They were said to have settled in this region during the Bantu Expansion

The Wahaya people live in North-Western Tanzania in the Bukoba, Mulemba, and Karagwe districts of the Kagera region.
