Packing Procedure

History

Alfred Nobel, his father, and his brother, began to experiment with Nitroglycerin in Stockholm in 1862. Nitroglycerin was discoverd by Italian chemist Ascario Sobrero in 1846. The first experiments with Nitroglycerin. did not always end well, Emil, Alfred's brother, was killed in one such accident.

Ingredients

Construction

The charges are unloaded from the stable, secure truck or transporter, and placed into the blast holes drilled in the rock formation that needs to be removed for the continue the construction. They slide into the blast hole by air pressure or by tamping (tapping) with wooden or plastic rods. The blaster takes great care that the leadwires to the detonators are shorted together until all charges have been placed. This provides a short circuit path for the wiring which prevents accidental ignition. Only the blaster is allowed to make the final electrical connections to the main firing switch.

Demolition

Dynamite can also be used for demolition.

When the workers need a large steel column

removed, they bring in a demolition expert, with a

license, to "Forcibly remove it from its place of residence". Although traditional dynamite is only used once in a while, the explosives used today, are the original dynamite's 'Older Brother'.

Military

When it was created, dynamite was used in the military. This new weapon gave the user a great advantage to the user. Instead of the basic rifle, soldiers can now throw dynamite sticks into crowds of enemies. Before these weapons, soldiers had rudimentary gunpowder bombs, which were very unstable. Now, we have perfected to dynamite, though we rareley use dynamite, we do use explosives that were made by studying the dynamite.

Movies

Hollywood, had greatly skewd the explosive power of a single stick of dynamite. According to them, a single stick can demolish a buiding, when, in actuallity, it has a very less spectacular blasting power.

Myths

Some common myths about dynamite, is that

it is easy to make. It is not. Only people who have studied for many years, and have the experience can create this powerful explosive. Otherwise, it may not end well.

Cartoons

According to Looney Tunes, dynamite, when exploded on-top of you, will only turn your body brown. When, in actuality, it would kill you. Plain and simple.

of igniter,( with black powder inside), surronding rock (Case, usually made of cardboard) is the packing procudure of the early dynamite stick.

Ingredients of the early Dynamite

• Nitroglycerine, an explosive liquid, is made by treating Glycerol with Nitric & Sulphuric acid.
• A blasting cap, which helps with controlling the explosion.
• A wooden plug filled with gunpowder, which ignites the surrounding Nitroglycerine.
• And a fuse.

Common Misconceptions of Dynamite

We have come, from using small, individual sticks of dynamite, that have approximately the same power as a pipe bomb or even a small cherry bomb, to having weapons that kill do damage to things months after detonation. All this, in under a hundred years.
