1728 - Birth of James Cook

James and Grace Cook gave birth to their son, James on October 27, 1728 in the small riverside village of Marton, England.

1776-1779 The Third Voyage

Captain Cook's third voyage was made to create a northwest passage between North America and Asia.

1779 Death

Captain James Cook died on the 14th of February 1779 in Hawaii.The Hawaiins stole one of his ships and in an attempt to take the Chief for ransom he was killed.

1770 The Discovery of Australia

1772-1775 The Second Voyage

On the 28th of April 1770 Captain Cook's fleet anchored in Stingray Harbour now known as Botany Bay. This is where Sir Joseph Banks named the Banksia.

But when they hit the Great Barrier Reef disaster struck, the coral had torn a hole in the hull.

1768-1771 The First Voyage

The main reason for Captain Cook's second voyage was to find the Great Southern Continent.

The aim of Captain Cook's first voyage was to get to Tahiti and track Venus. But the special orders said to try and find the Great Southern Continent.
