Tea
Tea was drunk a little less often because it was more expensive. Why it was given to workers is because it had caffeine which gave workers a boost.
Beer was drunk in factories because water was often contaminated . It was even given to children. This beer was not as alcoholic as the beers today, but still I don't think this should be given to children. Or in other words don't try this at home people!
Workers diets where composed of a lot of carbohydrates; that allowed them to burn of energy slower and there for they could work their long hours.
Oat cakes where made out of oats, flour, yeast, salt, water, milk and sugar. They were filling and released energy slowly so you wouldn't get hungry again soon. Oat cakes were also really cheap to make.
Gruel (yes it was actually called gruel) was a thin soup. It was made out of oats or potatoes or both mixed up with milk and water. It was also cheap to make, like oat cakes.

There was very little time to eat in factories. The people who worked there often given only 30 minutes to eat a day(15 minutes per meal).
Mutton and bacon were also bought cheep because owners of the factories would buy them with a lot of fat. Then sometimes they would make potato and bacon pie but the bacon would be SO fatty that is was almost inedible yet workers would eat almost any thing.
What did people eat during the industrial revolution?
During the Industrial revolution there was no such thing as a fridge or freezer so you would have to buy different something to eat every day instead of buying groceries and storing them in your fridge.
