Gold is a metal, and it is a solid at room temperature.

Gold is soft, dull, non dense, has a bright yellow color and luster traditionally considered attractive, It is a soft metal and is usually alloyed to give it more strength. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity, and is unaffected by air and most reagents.

Gold is found in a lot of places in the world. The total amount of gold in the world is 2,700,000 Kilograms. The country with the highest amount of gold mining is China. China has mined 355,000 Kilograms. The 2nd country is Australia. Australia has 270,000 Kilograms of mined gold. Next, is the United States. We have mined 237,000 Kilograms of gold. Next there is Russia. Russia has mined 200,000 Kilograms of gold. South Africa has mined 190,000 Kilograms of gold. These are the top 5 countries for gold mining.

Gold is the most valued and most highly thought of from the human mind. Gold conducts electricity, does not tarnish, is very easy to work with, can be drawn into wire, can be hammered into thin sheets, it alloys really well with many other metals, has a wonderful color and a brilliant luster. Gold attracts humans because of the appearance and the value. One of the main uses of Gold is jewelry. Gold has been used to make ornamental objects and jewelry for thousands of years and will keep being used for a very long time. About 78% of the gold found each year is used to make jewelry. Doctors and dentists have been using gold for thousands of year for medicines and to fill teeth. In the 20th and 21st centuries, many more uses have been found, including treatments for cancer and other diseases. Gold is also used in professionial pregnancy tests and when doctors measure the of progression of HIV in a person.

For thousands of years, Gold has been used as an ornament of kings, a currency and standard for global currencies, treasured and favored.

Gold will never rust, because it cannot combine with oxygen in the atmosphere to form a gold oxide.

Another interesting fact is that for many years, gold has been added to food. A long time ago, people believed that if they ate small amounts of gold, it would give them eternal life. Now, gold is used in products as more of a way to show luxury. Gold flakes are even used in the popular schnapps beverage, Goldschläger to increase the value.

Some people who wear gold, (necklaces, or rings), may eventually have irritated skin. Gold can cause allergic reactions.
