Most lodging managers work in the traveler accommodation industry, including hotels and motels, although they can work for any business that provides room or shelter for people. Relating Career to Geometry!

Four years of math are required to get into the undergraduate university I wish to attend. At the university itself, and in order to graduate with a degree in Hotel & Lodging Management, one math course is required on top of taking statistics. I will also have to take hospitality accounting one and two.

How does one get into a career like this?

Well, its pretty easy. A great start would be going to college and getting a degree in hospitality management or hotel and restaurant management. Then, apply for a job at a hotel of your choosing, eventually you work your way up to a successful and well paying career called a Lodging Manager!

Example of Math Being Used in This Career

A hotel manager was trying to figure out all his finances before the grand opening. One of the most important things is the rates of the rooms. He started with a simple room that can accomadate four people in two queen size beds. This was the problem he used, with X representing the amount of money per night and 20 dollars being a check-in fee.

x + 20 = 220

- 20 - 20

x = 200 per night
