Events that lead to the psychological problems

Soldiers in the Vietnam war

When soldiers came back from war they have gone through so much, so adjusting to normal life again was hard and people didn't really pay much attention to them since the issue of mental illness wasn't taken to seriously until around the 1980's.Plus around the 60's people started developing trust issues towards the government making them not wanting to help the soldiers that fought in the war.

Most soldiers that fought in the Vietnam war experienced and seen harsh things like death, torture, anxiety, paranoia, etc. That some would start to develop issues either before or after the war. They would just be told to toughen up instead of seeking help for them which obviously made it worse for them.

  • When the Vietnam war took place many willing and unwilling soldiers were sent to go fight in the war effort, but when coming back many suffered from terrible trauma and other effects that they never had the same life they had before being drafted.
  • Soldiers in the Vietnam were exposed to so much stress and worry that it started messing up their mental state and some were worse than others, and what makes it worst is that military officials labeled these soldiers suffering from these condition," cowards lacking moral power".
