TYPE FONT ANALYSIS
Type Face analysis will help me to understand why certain fonts have a style which attracts a certain demographic. I will be researching fonts suitable for my magazine for my target audience which is 13 - 25 year olds. I will analyze the choices I have made and why certain fonts will work and do not work.
Denotation - San serif font. Bold, upper case, white at the bottom of the letters.
Connotation - Forest-like, novel title.
Denotation - San serif font. Bold, upper case, white gaps in some of the letters, fully black no white shape gaps to 'O', 'R', 'A' and 'D'.
Connotation - Military, stamped out, camouflage like.
Denotation - San Serif font, block capitals, bold, slightly different sizes to make it stylish.
Connotation - Cartoon like, summer feel, poster advert font.
Denotation - San serif font. Some shapes of the font are filled heavy. The letters are not on one line as some hover slightly up and slightly down.
Connotation - Shadow-like, eerie atmosphere to it.
Denotation - San serif font. First letter of the words are elevated. rough edges around the shape of letters.
Connotation - Has a rock grunge look to it. Horror theme to it.
Denotation - San serif font. First and last letter are black with white backgrounds. The other letters are white with a black background. A scratch effect to the font. Alternative has white text with black background.
Connotation - Both have a rock grunge look to it. Black and white signify opposites: light - dark; evil - good and clean - dirty.
Target Audience:
- Target audience is classification E: unemployed, students and casual workers.
- The font does works well slightly because it has a grunge-like effect at the bottom of the words
Target Audience:
- Target audience is classification C2: Skilled workers because it speaks out to people who are in the military as the font suggests discipline which is not what rock is about.
- The font does not work well because it has a military orderly theme it. Unlike rock music which is rebellious and out of shape.
Target Audience:
- Target audience is classification E: unemployed, students and casual workers.
- The font does not work well because it has a horror theme to it. Looks more appropriate for a horror movie.
Target Audience:
- This font is big bold and clear for the audience to understand.
- Target audience is classification E: unemployed, students and casual workers.
- It does not suit my target audience which is girls from the ages of 13 - 25 years of age. The font seems to resonate with a younger audience because of the bold spaces.

Connotation: Old, and newspaper font.
Denotation - Serif font. All letters have a serif at the end of some letters, but the rest of the shape of the letters is curved.
Connotation: Posh, Sophisticated, feminine, typewritten, handwritten for a girl's diary
Denotation - San serif font. Upper case with no bold and more feminine
Connotation: Sophisticated, feminine and typed
Denotation - San serif font. All letters have a little quiff at the bottom of the letter, handwritten.
Connotation: Posh, Sophisticated, feminine.
Denotation - Serif font. All letters have a serif at the end of some letters and it looks written from a pen with a quill.
Connotation: Winnie The Pooh because of the words 'oak island' and it suits a children's book
Denotation - San serif font. All letters are upper case however the 'A' and the 'E' are a bigger font size than the other letters.
Connotation: Gothic theme, maybe part of a fashion magazine, sophisticated
Target Audience:
- Target audience is classification E: unemployed, students and casual workers and classification A: Top management, bankers, lawyers, doctors
- The font will not work for the contents page as it has an old newspaper style to it which makes it more suitable to an older audience.
Target Audience:
- Target audience is classification B: Middle management, teachers, many 'creatives'.
- The font will work for my contents page will be clear and go against the conventions of a rock magazine once again relating to the theme of rebellion

Connotation - Innocent, girly and suited for a girls novel
Denotation - San serif font. The left side of the letter is bold and heavily filled. Curved effect.

- The font will not work for it makes my contents page formal and this is not what I intend to make my magazine

- The font will work because it will make my magazine unconventional and stand out. It also represents a new sophisticated face for rock music.
