Day 5

We arrived to Dublin about

2:30 pm

We went by bus to the airport of

Malaga

Today we have flown to Dublin without problems. Our host family have picked us up at Tesco and we’ve arrived at the house at about 4 pm. Later, we played football with our friends and the English teacher’s son. When we finished playing football we met other friends and we have been talking about our host family. We had to return home at seven o’clock, because at this time the dinner was ready, we ate curry rice and an ice-cream for dessert. The mum of the family is very nice and talkative, but the two sons are shy, because they only say hello. Our bedroom is small, but there are three beds and we can’t open the wardrobe, because the bed is in front of it and we can’t move the bed. There are no chairs or tables, we have to write the diary on the floor. In general, we are satisfied to be in this house

Day 6

IES Mediterráneo

Departure from the IES Mediterráneo

Today we got up at 7:30 am and we had breakfast at 8 o’clock. This morning we met at the Spire with our teacher and a guide. Later, we visited Dublinia, which is a Viking museum. In this museum, the history of Dublin was explained. There were a lot of statues of the Vikings and some of the objects in the museum were interactive. For me, Dublinia was more interesting than the Natural History Museum.

At 1:30 pm we started the classes, it was our last day of classes. When I finished the classes I was tired, because the classes are too long, however, the classes aren’t boring.

In my free time, I go with my friends to the city centre and we buy some souvenirs for our families and for us. We also visit other places of Dublin. In Dublin we have visited many places , for example, the train station, some shops, the Temple Bar, which is one of the most famous bars in Dublin, the Trinity College…

In general, Dublin has a lot of interesting places to visit and to enjoy them.

8:15 am

Today we got up very early in the morning at about 6 o’clock. We got up at this time, because we had to go to Galway which is far from Dublin. We went on a Paddywagon coach to Galway. The first place that we visited was Cong, where the film “The Quiet Man” was recorded. Our teacher says that Cong is very similar to the scenery of the film. In this town, we saw a cemetery, a long river, the forest…

On the bus we saw the coast of Connemara, where there are a lot of small islands. Later, we arrived in Galway and we have been there for about two hours. In my opinion, the city wasn’t very interesting. After the visit to Galway we returned to Dublin and we went out with our friends to dinner. We have been at home before 10 o’clock.

The Irish accent of the people is different, for example, they pronounce bus differently from the English people.

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Day 7

Today is our second day in Dublin. We went with our friends to the bus stop and we took the bus 15 toget tothe Spire. In my opinion, to take the correct bus is a bit difficult, but we arrived at the Spire before other students. I bought a T-shirt about Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day and I also bought a keychain. Later, we made the tour of Dublin with one member of the school. We saw statues, the Trinity College, which is very big and beautiful, and we went to a market. In the market, we had some free time and we saw all the market and the shops around it. To end the tour, our English teacher took us to Grafton Street and some students have been in the park to eat. In the afternoon, we had to go to school and there were three groups and I’m in the last group, but I think they will change me to the medium group. When we finished the classes, we took the bus to our house. I returned home at quarter to eight and we ate at eight o’clock. After dinner we have taken a shower and we have gone to sleep.

Today we had our second day of classes. Finally, they changed me to another class and I think I will learn more than before. My new teacher is named Kenan and today we practised the comparative form and to finish the class we played a game. The classes are different from school classes. Dublin is a beautiful and big city and I love it. It has a lot of monuments. Today we visited the Natural History Museum, where there are a lot of dead animals. In this museum, we saw enormous animals, for example a shark or a bear and we also saw human brains and human skeletons. In my opinion, the visit to this museum has been interesting. After the visit to the museum, we went to Grafton Street and we went shopping, I bought some souvenirs of Ireland.

We arrived in Alicante about 6 pm (Spanish hour) and we went by bus to Salobreña

Today should be our last day in Dublin. On this day we went to Phoenix Park in the morning and there we rented bicycles for one hour. Some students didn’t want to ride a bicycle and they didn’t come with us. The rest of the students visited the Phoenix Park by bike, the park is enormous and it has many beautiful places. We saw animals, deer, and we could give them food and we saw monuments, for example, the U.S Embassy.

After the visit to the park we had to return home, because we had to prepare the suitcase. We arrived home at about 2 o’clock, it was the last time that we returned. At 3:30 pm the mum of the family drove us up to the Tesco, where the bus was waiting to go to the airport.

We usually get up about 7.30 am and we have breakfast at 8 o’clock. After breakfast we take the bus to go to the Spire. The meals at home are good, in general, we like them. Last night we ate macaroni. The dessert is always the same, we have an ice-cream. In the packed lunch we have a sandwich, chocolate, water, and a small bag of snacks.

During the week we have had a perfect weather, it has never rained and it hasn’t been very cold. I think the weather can’t be better.

Today is a special day in Ireland, because we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. O’ Connell Street was full of people, all of them have something green, for example, the hair, a hat, the clothes… I really liked it.

In the afternoon we went by train to Howth. In Howth, we saw beautiful cliffs, where we took some photos and we walked a lot and now we are tired.

Flight from the Dublin airport to Alicante.

2 pm (Irish hour)

The colours of the flag of Ireland have a historical meaning.

We arrived in Salobreña

at about 12 o'clock.

The flight should have been at 6:30 pm, but finally the flight was cancelled because of the French air traffic controllers strike. We couldn’t return to Spain.

That night we went to a hotel and we ate pizzas, our teacher had to pay for all the pizzas. The next day, we went again to the airport and our teacher appeared on a Irish TV and because of that, this night we had a hotel and the dinner free, this time our teacher didn’t have to pay for the dinner. Finally, the next day we flew to Spain, the flight was to Alicante and at the airport of Alicante a bus was waiting for us and we arrived in Salobreña at about 12 o’clock.

The orange represents the supporters of Orange House.

The white is a symbol of the peace which reflects the Irish independence

The colour green represents the Society of United Irishmen which was a Republican organization and it also symbolizes the native village of Ireland

Paddy comes from St. Patrick’s Day. Paddy derives from the idea that the Irish were all criminals.

Irish paddy is just a funny way to refer to Irish people. It is not an insult, all the opposite.
