Britain passes the act to stop the colonists from smuggling goods.
This made the colonists feel that they were insecure in their own homes. They also felt that their rights were violated.
The Writs of Assistance was that the Redcoats were able to enter the colonists homes without permission. They would search the house for illegal imported goods that were smuggled into the colonies. The officers would take goods without going to court. Now a days in order for the officers to enter a home they have to have permission or a search warrant.
Britain created this law to gain money from the colonies. They put taxes on sugar which was a big deal because everyone drank tea with sugar.
The colonists got mad and started saying, "No Taxation without Represention" The colonist are tired of Parliament creating the laws without the colonists being able to vote on them.
