What effect does the film have on you mentally and emotionally, as a result?

Schindler's List Reaction Project

The mental effect that the film has on me is the amount of cruelty. It makes you wonder how you would feel in their shoes. It also makes you wish you can go back in time and help by getting them free or by warning them with the use of modern day video. You just want to keep it from

happening in the first place. An example

from the film here is when Oscar

Schindler is about to leave but he feels so

upset because he feels he didn't do

enough, didn't save enough.

The film has left no emotional imprint on me. That's probably because I don't ever feel emotion on any kind of film except for comedies. However if anyone else felt any emotion, I would guess they would have cried or at least felt very upset. A good example like this in the movie is when families are separated from each other. They are sad, yelling, crying, and pushing to get back together.

How does the production team work to shape reality in the film?

The props used (weapons, buildings, clothing, etc.) look as they would if this was actually shot in this time.

They also made the actions that the people had look realistic. They put in pieces that actually made the film better. An example of this is when they overlap the scene when all

the Jew are being deported. The production

team overlapped the scene with children

singing.

The style of music used during the movies reflects the time period the film is set in. Certain parts of the film are in color. One example is when we see the little girl in the red coat wandering the streets during liquidation. This way we can follow Schindler's eyes as he watches the Jews walk out of the ghetto. We see this little bust of color in two other scenes during the film.

They kept all the buildings exactly the way they were when the Holocaust was occurring. Everything in the movie gave its own feeling, form the buildings to the people. This doesn't tell just one story. It tells the story from multiple people from both perspectives. The Nazi side and the Jewish side. This increases the emotion of both sides. An example of this is from Schindler's perspective and the Jews who worked for him.

In your opinion, what are the most effective moments in the film at eliciting a response? Why?

www.bradleyfarless.com

The final scene is the most effective moment for eliciting a response. When Oscar Schindler starts breaking down over what the Jews he saved do for him. He just ends up crying. He's talking about how he could have saved even just one more person. One more life with the money he had. This is one of the most moving moments in the whole film. The Jews show much symphony for him and they tell him that he's done more than enough.
