The Natives had to be very skilled to live in an Arctic environment. They lived in temporary houses such as igloos, lodges, and sod houses. The Natives used Eskimo dogs to travel and get around places.
The geography of the Arctic region is flat in some parts and mountainous in other parts. The climate of this region is very cold close to freezing. They call the Arctic region the "desert of snow".
The Native American Arctic Region's diet is mostly salt water fish. The specific animals they eat are fish, seals, walruses, auks, polar bear, and whale. They would use the fur of they polar bears skin for clothing, and they would eat the meat and blubber that is left over.
The Native Americans religion was Animism. Religious ceremonies were dominated by a religious leader called a Shaman, and many spirits wearing weird and frightening masks. The ideas of the religion came from mythology. Their art was mostly carvings.Something they were very skilled at. Figures were carved from ivory and whale bone, and they used many tools to create detail.
The Arctic region consisted of many tribes, but the most popular were Inuit, Yupik, and Aleut. Some tribes traded fur with nonnatives, conquered Russians, and just hunt for fish. In the end they all share the same culture.
In the long winters for the "Eskimos" they were fishers and in the short summers they were nomads. During the winters some men would go out and hunt for sea mammals while the women stay and fish for fish like char and trout. The animals they hunt for depends on the season. During the summer they hunt for land animals such as polar bear, musk oxen, and arctic fox.
Currently in The Native American Arctic Region they are now officially considered as the Inuits. The Inuits have now adapted to eating only seafood. Currently scientists are researching how far back this diet started and are now concluding that they were related to the Denisovans. Also there is a weird climate change in The Arctic Region. There aren't as many animals seen north in the Arctic Region, and the snow is melting, fast. Whic in making it hard to build igloos, which they prefer over tents, and giving them nowhere to live. They are doing further research on both topics and currently warning all people of that region, but nobody realy knows how its all going to turn out.
