Slim- Of Mice and Men

Character's Purpose

Slim always does the merciful thing, for example he encouraged Candy to let Carlson shoot his old and crippled dog because it was suffering. When Curley's hand gets crushed by Lennie, Slim tells Curley that his hand got caught in a machine, to save George and Lennie's jobs at the ranch. Slim is sympathetic towards Lennie and gives him a puppy because he knows that Lennie likes to pet soft things. Slim is also sympathetic towards George after he kills Lennie, telling George that it was the only thing he could do.
