When she arrived to the festival she had forgotten all about her lost shoe and started enjoying the festival. Everyone was interrupted by the Magistrates palanquin as he announced he was looking for the girl with one shoe. Pear Blossoms stepsister shouted pointing at her in hope he was there to arrest her. Then he announced that Pear Blossom would be his bride.
There was a festival that Pear Blossom wanted to go to and Omoni told her, being the mean stepmother she was, if she finished weeding the field she could go. Pear Blossom knew it would take her weeks but then something weird happened.
Along the way she runs into the Prince being carried on his palanquin. She hurried out of the way. The prince caught site of Pear Blossom and saw how beautiful she was and ordered his men to stop. Frightened by him she turned to run away but dropped her straw sandal in the water.
Pear Blossom was a very beautiful young girl who lost her mother at a very young age. Her father remarries, Omoni, who has a daughter the same age as her.
A black ox came and ate all the weeds out of the field row by row in no time. Pear Blossom was so grateful to the ox she called out a thanks to him as he trampled away. So off to the festival she went.
Then the Magistrate and his new bride got on his palanquin and they continued on through the festival. Leaving her evil stepmother and stepsister in utter shock.
