  • The abolition of the slave trade by the British in 1833, could introduce the legitimate trading. They would be trading agricultural products mainly palm and latter cocoa and minerals, particularly gold under colonial rule. The gold exports raised in price a lot. from 6 million pounds to 9 million pounds.
  • Health care in Ghana became very good, there were new "orthodox" medicines introduced and new hospitals were built.
  • The Europeans brought in Ghana schools. There were schools in almost every fort or church. They primarily focused in literacy and numeracy.
  • The Religion that really took over during the Colonial period was Christianity.

Archeologists found out that Ghana was inhabited during the bronze age(4000B.C). Ghana started out as a kingdom and was the core of the Ashanti empire. Later it became its own huge kingdom. The Religion that was in Ghana were Muslims.

By the Beginning of the 16th century European sources noted the existence of gold in the rich state of Ghana. Ghana's economy was based on agriculture, trade, and industry. But gold was a huge part of Ghana's economy.
