-United Express Flight 5925 (a Beechcraft 1900C) N87GL was landing at Quincy Municipal Airport in Illinois.

-A Beechcraft King Air was attempting to depart.

What's that sound?

The events...

-Ten minutes after departure the pilot's noticed a "crazy fuel fuel flow indicator on number four..."

-The CVR picks up a sound similar to a mechanical movement, and unintelligible word, and ended with a very loud sound.

-A 737 following Flight 800 reported a sighting of an explosion.

-Many other pilots reported the sighting of an explosion.

-Even after multiple landing announcements, the King Air still did not wait to take off.

-The two aircraft collided at the intersection of runway 13 and runway 4.

-Both aircraft ignited.

-Two bystanders rushed to the scene to try to help one of the pilots.

-The bystanders struggled to help the pilot of the Beechcraft 1900C, but couldn't open the door.

NTSB findings...

All 230 people on board were killed, and the aircraft was completely destroyed and fell into the Atlantic Ocean.

-The NTSB found that the reason for the accident was...

All 14 people involved in the accident were killed.

1.Preoccupation with providing instruction to the passenger.

2.Careless habits.

3.Possible fatigue.

4.Rushing.

-The aircraft exploded ten minutes after take-off and split in two sections (forward and aft).

-One out of three witnesses claimed to have seen a streak of light head towards the plane before the explosion. Indicating a Surface to Air missile.

-The NTSB declared that the explosion was not the result of a missile or explosive device, but rather a short circuit in the center wing fuel tank.

-However, anomalous primary radar targets were recorded by the Islip, New York, radar sight.

-The NTSB blames the pilot of the King Air for the accident.
