The Plateau First Nations People

Clothing

Coloured clothing

The plateau people make lots colourful types of clothing. First, they would stretch the hide or skin for about one week. Next, they would would tan the hide or skin using coloured paints made from coloured clays and plants. Then, they would let the paint dry for about one day then rub a liquid made from animals organs of the clothing to make it more durable. In conclusion, the Plateau People use lots of colour in the clothing they make.

Decorations for clothing

The Plateau People use lots of decorations and symbols on their clothing . First , they would use shells, porcupine quills, seeds, and feathers. Second, they would paint a blue circle that represents clouds and red dots that represents stars. Another, symbol was that a red cross represents a sun also a red line represented the earth . Next, they use beads on skirts, shirts, and dresses also they use goat's wool on jackets. To conclude, The Plateau People use decorations for fashion and to represent things.

The Plateau People used lots of materials to make different types of clothing. First, they would use grasses and softened bark for skirts, legging, and headdresses. Also, they would use beaver, deer, and muskrat for shirts, ponchos, and dresses. Next, they would use goat's wool for breech clothes, robes, and capes. In conclusion, the Plateau People used a variety of materials for clothing.

The Plateau People made different types of clothing out of different types of materials according to the season and temperature. First , in the winter they would wear leather pants and use thicker skins to make other clothing. Also , they would use animals furs in the making of clothing. Next, in the summer they would wear skirts and t-shirts made out of softened bark and grasses. To conclude, the Plateau People would make clothing according to the temperature.

Male and Female Clothing

The Plateau People have different clothing for male and female. First, the male would wear leggings made from grass or animal hide. Next, they would wear shirts made from animal skins. Another, clothing would be breech clothes and moccasins. Fourth, females would wear skirts and dresses made out of animal hides . Finally, the females would also wear moccasins made out of salmon skin or animal skins. To conclude, the Plateau People had some difference between male and female clothing.
