This battle was the first of the three major battles fought between Alexander and the Persian Empire. It was located in Turkey and the participants were the Macedonian and the Persian and the key people were Alexander the Great and Parmenio.

Granicus Battle - May 334 BC

The Macedonians were afraid to cross the river, the battle was scrappy because they were trying to go around the river. When they finally crossed the river, people fell in and drowned. Alexander got really close to being killed and his sword got taken from him to kill a close friend of his. The Greeks won and Alexander survived, they took wealthy objects. This was the entry point into fighting his way into Asia.

Alexander marched against Darius and ordered leaders to fight in single combat. Alexander was victorious and got 12 villagers and the right to Persian wear. "Darius fled from the field. With these two victories Alexander broke the pain Persian resistance" (Bowra, C.1965.)

Issus Battle - 5 November 333 BC key factors

This battle was probably the most decisive of battles between the Greek and the Persian Empires. It was located in Tel Gomel (Gaugamela) near Erbil, modern Iraqi Kurdistan. The participants were the Greek and the Persian and the key people were Alexander the Great and Darius III.

Issus Battle - 5 November 333 BC

Amyntas fled the country he knew the ways of Alexander, he begged Darius not to kill Alexander. Alexander said it was better to fight in a broad spacious place instead of narrow mountains his numbers were inferior to the enemy and he fought in hand to hand combat.

Siege of Tyre - January to July 332 BC key factors

This battle was the most famous of the sieges of Alexander the Great fought between the Greek and the Persians. The battle was in Tyre, Phoenicia (now Lebanon) and the key people that were involved were Alexander the Great and Darius III.

Siege of Tyre - January to July 332 BC

Alexander and men went to Persia and took the cities on the coast land. "Alexander sent them on this expedition purposely" (Plutarch 2017.) There was an oracle prophesies at the end of the month saying that Alexander will take Tyre. He fought vigorously until he owned all the cities on the coast line.
