Setting
The introduction of the story takes place on Mount Olympus, while the majority of the story takes place at the house of Epimetheus on Earth.
The time of the story is not specified, however, it is around when humans were given fire by Prometheus. Logically it can be assumed that it was very early in time.
Characterization and Point of View
The story is written in the 3rd person omniscent point of view, because the narrator knows the feelings of all the characters.
Pandora- She is curious , beautiful, loving, puzzling, and gifted in all things.
Epimetheus- He is God-fearing, harmless, slow-witted, and cautious.
Prometheus- Sympathetic, generous, and kind. His act of kindess, however, was perceived as an act of transgression.

Pandora's box is a symbol that shows how all things have consequences.
The box can also symbolize disasters that happen, and how, even through the hardest times, hope will always be there.
Also, Pandora is a symbol for curiosity, and how you must have self-control, or else bad things can happen.
The theme of "Pandora's Box" is similar to the metaphor "curiosity killed the cat". However, though Pandora did open the box when she was told not to, the message of hope remaining throughout troubling times is a second theme within the story. The message is that though there may be strife, grief, sadness, and pain, hope will always be there in the midst.
