Throughout Siddhartha's life, before enlightenment, Siddhartha father would often try to shelter Siddhartha in hope that Siddhartha will be a King like he was. At the age of 29, he gave up his life of luxury to live in poverty and to seek the meaning of life. The things he saw when he gave up his life of luxury was: an very elderly woman, a man crawling with disease and a funeral. To find enlightenment, Siddhartha meditated under a fig tree for 7 years until he received enlightenment and finally came up with the 4 Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.

Whilst finding his enlightenment Buddha was faced with many challenges. One of them would have to be becoming Buddha and getting rid of suffering. Another would be wandering India at the ,beginning of his journey, to try find the meaning of life. Another would also be meditating under the fig tree for 7 years, eventually leading to creating the 4 Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, and gathering followers to follow his religion.

To sum up Siddhartha was a wealthy person who gave up that type of lifestyle to live in poverty. He was a very wise man with all of his teachings and his enlightenment that took 7 years to reach and as a result became Buddha and started his own religion. In the end, Siddhartha was able to achieve his original goal which was to find peace.

Siddhartha was born in Lumbini, Nepal in 563 BC. Siddhartha was born into the Kshatriya caste and was trained to be a warrior. It is said Siddhartha was able to walk and talk immediately. His father was King Śuddhodana and he was the leader of the Shakya people, Siddhartha's original birth mother was Queen Maha Maya but because she died Mahapajapati Gotami, the Queen's sister, took care of Siddhartha. Siddhartha married his cousin, Yasodhara, at 16 and they had a son called Rahula.

A lasting legacy for Siddhartha would be the religion itself still carrying on to this day and being one of the largest religions on Earth. The dharma (his teachings) are carried on and used to this day. Buddhists believe that Buddha's teachings has the potential to resolve all of the worlds problems and bring benefits to all beings.

Siddhartha Gautama was the founder of the Buddhist religion and played a very significant role in Ancient India. The most important role was Siddhartha finding enlightenment and becoming the first Buddha. After this enlightenment Siddhartha spent the rest of his life teaching his disciples but in Buddha's lifetime only men could join his new religion.

Factual Facts!

1)The three teachings Buddha were not to be ignorant, hate and angry.

2)When he was born, within few days it was predicted that either he would grow up to become a great ruler or he will become a saint.

3)His son, Rahula, became the youngest monk at the very age of 7.

4)He traveled until he was 80 when he died. His last words to his followers were to work towards their own deliverance because nothing in this world is permanent.

5)He died of food poisoning.
