During the time of slavery the black male didn't have a man to look up to, so he turned to the master and saw him as a male figure. This was the objective of slave owners. Slave owners wanted their slaves to look up too them as if they were their father figure. This was all that the slaves knew to in their lives on the plantation.
The Willie Lynch Letters are stereotypes of African Americans. Designed to tear us down, and in society today many African Americans are still living by most of these stereotypes and not progressing towards success.
Growing up as a slave Frederick Douglas didn't know his biological father and he barely knew his mother. He grew up with his grandmother. (A very common household in the African American Community today). After realizing that he was really a slave, this affected Douglas in his later life as a young man, but was his catalyst to further his education. This is a excellent example of the black community today.
The Willie Lynch Letters affected African Americans in many ways. Yes this means all the stereotypes can be broken. All African Americans need to read the Willie Lynch Letters. Post-traumatic slave syndrome, an excuse for their impoverished life style and ignorant actions.
Basically this is what we see today in a lot of modern homes. Where most children do not have both parents in their home. Willie Lynch has brain washed most of our African American women ancestors to be independent ,and it has a cycle that has not been stopped. From here the children are without a male influence in their lives which can hinder both the male and female child in their life.
