Forgiveness is a central theme of Cry, the beloved country. Amongst so much hatred and discrimination provides a beacon of hope for the citizens of Johannesburg and Ndotsheni. As the leaders of their respective villages, Stephen Kumalo and James Jarvis encourage their people to let go of the past and have compassion for one another.
