When: 11 of November 1918

Where: The Armistice took place in Ferdinand Foch's railway carriage in the Forest of Compiègne

Who: The Armistice was signed by representatives from Britain, France and Germany

How: The surrender happened due to a lead up of events. After all the events Kaiser Wilhelm annouced that he had failed and shorty after the armistice was decided and signed

When: January 10, 1920

Who: The League of Nations was established by Woodrow Wilson

Where: The main headquarters was in Geneva, Switzerland

Purpose/Aim: To maintain peace through collective security, disarmament and negotiation rather than war

Were all nations represented?: Not all of the nations were represented, many were excluded or didnt want to join

Why were nations excluded?: Some nations were excluded as they were the nations getting the blame or that were close to Germany during the war

When: October 29, 1929

Which City: New York

Name of the Stock Market crash: Black Tuesday

Causes: Three major causes of the great depression were the stock market crash, bank failures and reduction on purchasing

Other Countries: Other countries affected were Canada, Germany, Australia and most of Europe

Economic and Social Impacts: The economic impacts were that no one had money and the little people that had some didnt want to spend it and the social impacts were that alot of people migrated to other countries and crime rates grew rapidly

What: The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty signed at the end of WW1 that stated what each county must do, but it was mostly meant to punish Germany

When: June 29, 1919

Where: It was signed at the Paris Peace conference

Who wrote the conditions: The conditions were mostly writen by the 'Big Four' (Woodrow WIlson, David Lloyd Gearod, George Clemenceau and Vitoio orlando

Who did it blame: The treaty put full blame on Germany

When: January 18, 1919-21 January 18

Where: Paris

Who: Woodrow Wilson (USA), David Llyod Georg (United Kingdom), George Clemenceau (France) and Vittorio Orlando (Italy)

Main Points: The main point discussed were who was to take blame, who should pay or reparations, should armies be altered and who should get different pieces of land.

New Technologies:

  • Cars/Automobiles: For the first time cars became affordable for the average person and could be produced at a fast rate
  • Planes: Before the 20's planes were not recognised greatly but during the 20's they started to use them for Air Mail and to carry people
  • Radios: Radios were introduced as something anyone could have as before the 20's all of the radios recievers were destroyed.

Fashions: For girls clothing became more revealing while men started to wear suits

Famous Individuals:

  • F Scott Fitzgerald: Wrote "The Great Gatsby", a book which defined the 20's
  • Henry Ford: Came up with the Model T and was able to produce a Model T every 10 seconds, the cars also became afforable to more average people
  • Coco Chanel: She created a clothing company which produced clothing that stood out from the traditional clothing before the war
