How to Draw a Topographic Profile

This is what a completed topographic profile should look like.
I got this topographic map and profile from the August, 2014 Earth Science Regents.
Use the marking points on your scrap paper to plot the points on your topographic profile.
When your points are plotted they should NOT look like this!
This is wrong because the lines are not smooth. They should also be curvey because this is a hill.
For a topographic profile to receive full credit it must have...
- Smooth lines
- The line must go through the center of every point
- No sketchy lines
Next, on your scrap paper make a mark for every contour line that crosses line BC.
What you will need...
Line your scrap paper perfectly along the topographic profile.
First, line up your scrap paper along points "B" and "C".
-pencil, NOT pen
-3x5 post-it note or scrap paper
