Pointillism is a style of painting which a picture is formed from small colorful dots that are blended together to make one whole color on your canvas.
Paul Signac was born on November eleventh 1863 Paris France and died on August fifteenth 1935. Paul Signac was a French neo-impressionist painter who, worked with Georges Seurat and helped develop the pointillist style. Paul Signac had no formal art training, but in 1884 Paul met Georges Seurat and learned more techniques of painting. Soon Paul began experimenting with pointillism and started to create portraits of people and landscapes.
The technique depends on the ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to mix the colors spots into a fuller range of tones. It is similar to Divisionism. Divisionism is concerned with color theory, where pointillism is more focused on the specific style of brushwork used to apply the paint.
