Aaron Stern

  • Aaron Stern was the father of Edith Stern
  • Survivor of concentration camps
  • Was hospitalized 170 times due to cancer
  • Cancer treatment was later paid for by Albert Einstein
  • Wanted to make his daughter a genius
  • Took her away from her mother from the day she was born
  • Designed the 'total educational immersion' technique
  • Played only classical music
  • Made flash cards for Edith with pictures, letters, and animals
  • Demanded all of Edith's time
  • Soon Edith began to whine at other radio stations and was able to communicate with flash cards

Edith Stern

  • Edith was born in 1952
  • Could communicate with flash cards at eleven months old; and was able to use the cards to say how old she was
  • At age one, she was able to speak simple sentences and identify letters on flash cards
  • At age two, Edith knew the entire alphabet

  • Edith Stern currently holds a Ph.D in mathematics and works for IBM in Boca Raton, Florida.
