History Of NAFTA

What Does This Organization Do?

This Organization was founded

on January 1st, 1994. Taxes

(duties) were not required starting on January 1st, 2008.

Goods

Food such as produce,

meats, snack foods

and frozen foods

are exchanged.

Live animals, gold,

machinery, mineral fuel,

plastic, vehicle parts,

and oil are also traded.

NAFTA (North American Free

Trade Agreement) is a trading

company of goods in North America.

This company exists so citizens

can receive foods that are not locally accessible. For example,

Canadians cannot grow

fruits and vegetables in the

winter and the prices of

commonly used food is very

high in much of Canada,

which NAFTA eliminates slightly.

Global trade has advantages. For starters, it allows those of us who live through winter to eat fresh produce year~round. And it provides economic benefits to farmers who grow that food.

The members of NAFTA, which consists

of North Americans working for the organization,

aim to reach people in North America that do not

have local foods and other products.

NAFTA's mission is to trade goods with

other North American countries.

The produce may not be very fresh

by the time it reaches the consumers,

which is a negative aspect of the trade.

Also, some of Mexico's farmers were

put out of work by US-subsidized farm products.

In 2009 US services traded with NAFTA totaling $1.6 trillion, exports totaling $397 billion, and imports equaling $438 dollars. In 2010 Canada and Mexico were the top two buyers of US exports, totaling 411.5 billion dollars.
