A popular dish in Trinidad and Tobago is shark and Fried bake. Another very popular and nationally well known dish with distinctly Indian roots is callaloo, a creamy and spicy side dish made of dasheen or Taro leaves,okra known locally as Okro, crab or pigtails, thyme, coconut milk and shado beni (from "Chardon Bénit,"French thistle or Fitweed) or bhandhanya (Hindi bandh dhanya, "closed cilantro") or culantro. Callaloo is often served with cornmeal coo coo, plantain, cassava, sweet potatoes, dumplings and curried crab. Pelau, a rice-based dish of Afghani origin ,is a very popular dish in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as stewed chicken, breadfruit oil down, macaroni pie, pepperpot, ox-tails, among many others.

Being so close to continental South America, the diversity of Trinidad and Tobago is unlike that of most other Caribbean islands, and has much in common with Venezuela. That diversity is distributed through the following main ecosystems: coastal and marine (coral reefs, mangrove swamps, open ocean and seagrass beds), forest, freshwater (rivers and streams), karst, man-made ecosystems (agricultural land, freshwater dams, secondary forest), and savanna.

Trinidad is popular with nature lovers and birdwatchers. But if you're looking for beach activities, we recommend a ferry ride to Tobago. Resplendent beaches line the island's coast, and many remain untouched and desolate. Some of the best lay near the southern end, including Store Bay or Pigeon Point. And if you're thinking of visiting in winter, Trinidad's famous Carnival celebration is a must-do.

One of Trinidad's major cities is Chaguanas , Chaguanas. The population is 67,433.Historical places like Fort Chacon and Fort Picton, which were constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries respectively attract plenty of visitors. Fort George is another historical fort.

Religious monuments like the biggest mosque in Port of Spain and a historic Roman Catholic cathedral are equally visited by people.

Trinidad is in the southern Caribbean, lying just off the coast of northeastern Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. It shares maritime boundaries with other nations including Barbados to the northeast, Grenada to the northwest, Guyana to the southeast, and Venezuela to the south and west.
