Angle

Rectangle

Congruent

The pitchers plate on the pitchers mound is a rectangle

The home plate has five sides

If you are playing in an age range from 14-16 then the bat length is 31" to 33".

Rectangle- a plane figure with four straight sides and four right angles, esp. one with unequal adjacent sides, in contrast to a square.

Polygon- a plane figure with at least three straight sides and angles, and typically five or more.

Length- the measurement or extent of something from end to end; the greater of two or the greatest of three dimensions of a body.

As you can see, the two batter boxes are congruent.

Right Angle

Right angle

Congruent- identical in form; coinciding exactly when superimposed.

The lines on the baseball field form a right angle.

There are three right angles on the home plate and two obtuse angles.

Right Angle- an angle of 90 degrees, as in a corner of a square or at the intersection of two perpendicular straight lines.

Angle- the space(usually measured in degrees) between two intersecting lines or surfaces at or close to the point where they meet.

Parallel

The lines on the Yankees unfirom are parallel.

Parallel- (of lines, plane, surfaces, or objects) side by side and having the same distance continuously between them.

Circle

Perpendicular

Perimeter

Center

Width

The ends of the baseball field form perpendicular lines

Perpendicular- at an angle of 90 degrees to a given line, plane, or surface.

The pitchers mound is in the shape of a circle.

The home plate is 75 inches in perimeter.

Circumference

Perimeter- the continuous line forming the boundary of a closed geometric figure.

Circle- a round plane figure whose boundary (circumference) consists of points equidistant from a fixed point (the center)

This is the center of a baseball.

The width of a baseball is 3 inches.

Diameter

PI

A baseball can be 9 inches in circumference.

Center- the middle point of a circle or sphere, equidistant from every point on the circumference or surface.

Width- the measurement of something from side to side.

Circumference - the enclosing boundary of a curved geometric figure, esp. a circle.

Pi is the measurement of a circle, like this one.

1

The pitchers mound is 18ft. in diameter.

3

Pi- the numerical value of the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. (Approximately 3.14159)

Diameter - a straight line passing from side to side through the center of a body or figure

There are eight right angles on the two batters box.

Dodgers Stadium.

Two examples of an obtuse angle is the two on the home plate.

An example of an acute angle is this baseball player.

Radius

Area

Line segment

This is another similar example of an acute angle.

5. The area of the batters box is is 6 x 4 and that is 24in.

6. The perimeter of the pitching rubber is 60in.

7. The area of pitching rubber is 6 x 24 and that is 144in.

8. The perimeter of the base path is 360ft.

9. The area of the infield is 90 x 90 and that is 8,100ft.

10. The perimeter of the Dodger's stadium is 146ft.

11. The area of the Dodger's stadium is 1,232.25ft.

There is a 95ft. Radius from the pitchers mound to the end of the field.

The foul line from home plate to the end of the field.

The area of the batters box is 24 inches.

Radius- a straight line from the center to circumference of a circle or sphere.

Line Segment- part of a line connecting two points. It has definite end points.

Area- the extent or measurement of a surface or piece of land.

Alex Rodriguez player statistics

1. The perimeter of a base is 4 x 15 and that makes the perimeter 60in.

2. The area of a base is 15 x 15 and that makes the area 225in.

3. The perimeter of home plate is 12 x 2, 8.5 x 2, and then add 17. Then you add them up and get 58 inches.

4. The perimeter of the batters box is 6 x 2 and 4 x 2. Then you add them and get 20in.
