~VIETNAM( PROXY WAR )~

Why did the "Proxy War started?"

When did the "Proxy War started?"

Who started the "Proxy War?"

In the United States, South Vietnam was perceived as doomed. President Gerald Ford had given a televised speech on 23 April, declaring an end to the Vietnam War and all U.S. aid

In short, the Vietnam war started as a result of U.S strategy of containment during the Cold War, which aimed to prevent the spread of communism throughout the world. After the Second World War, the Soviet Union (USSR) with its major role in the war emerged as a superpower with strong influence over Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria and East Germany, and parts of Asia, including China and Korea. The U.S and its Western allies considered Communism in form of the USSR as the greatest rival and post-war threat to their democracies and capitalism.

Although the first recorded proxy war happened as early as in 1529, it was not common until the Cold War set off by the ideological and political differences between the two victors of the World War II. During the Cold War, the two nuclear-armed superpowers did not wish to exchange blows directly since that would have led to a devastating nuclear war. Instead, both the U.S. and particularly the Soviet Union sought to spread their own spheres of influence all over the world, leading to many proxy wars such as one in Greek, Korea, Afghanistan and notably Vietnam.

What started the " Proxy War?"

Where did the "Proxy War started?"

The "Proxy War" had took place in Vietnam!

One party was for the war and the other was against it. The US govt spent millions of $$$$ there and lots of people thought it was wasted. They said we never should have been there. Socially the protesters managed to disrupt many things going on. They would march up and down with their protest signs and shouting anti-war slogans. Military who returned from Vietnam did not get a heroe's welcome or a ticker tape parade in New York. They were booed and spit on and some people turned their backs on them. The TV cameras right there in the action showed people back home a side of the war they had never seen before and they didn't like it. But it was not a new thing happening in Vietnam. Wars before it were just as bad, there just weren't cameras there to capture it and report it instantaneously.
