Edison made a improved version of Davy's light bulb. He tested over 3,000 light bulbs and finally succeeded.
There are many parts of a light bulb. Here is a list.
A light bulb works by sending electrical current to the filament (usually tungsten) of the bulb. The thin layer of glass is used to keep oxygen out because if oxygen make contact the tungsten will simply disintegrate. To prevent this the use the glass but this only slow it down. They fill the bulb with halogen air which traps the parts of the filament that start to fly away and then the halogen air puts it back on the filament.
