The significance of the title is that you can't judge a person before you get to know them. Similarly, you can't guess what's going to come out of that egg unless you see it.
The story's written in third person omniscient.
Jimmy: stubborn, making own decisions, doesn't like being told, supportive to friends.
Ms. Swanson: over protective, judgemental, and self righteous.
Parents are too protective of their children sometimes. The main message of the story is that you should not judge people before you get to know them.
Frustration: arguing if Jimmy shouldn't go hiking with Paul.
Joy: Jimmy felt very happy that his mom understood Paul and realized he isn't a bad person.
The story took place at the Swanson's house and at the place where Jimmy and Paul went hiking.
-Parents don't trust their children enough
-Children don't listen to their parents
-The society has become more judgemental
We can connect this story to "Ratatouille" because everyone was being very judgemental about Remy because he is a mouse, but it turns out that he was the best chef that the restaurant ever had.
