He bought his freedom for fourty-seven pounds after selling his venture

He supported Abolitionists and many encouraged him to write and publish his life story

He married and had two daughters

He married in April 1792, and his wife died Feb. 1976

He was Methodist and greatly influenced by writings of the New World by George Whitfield
