What are the typical roles of males an females in the workforce?
Men tradtionally have always been the one that has to provide for the household's finanical needs, which usually require them to have a job. Men are not excluded from any particular occupation, but it is uncommon see men doing household chores, and similar to America, in the nuresing profession
Women traditonally have been restricted to completing daily household chores and taking care of the children while the men go off to work. However, in present day Iran, women are not restricted from any occupation (except for being a judge in court) and may choose which ever profession they wish. Yet, a women's husband may prohibit their wife from working if he feels it necesssary, but with the passing of recent legislation, wives may now argue their husband's restiction by taking them to court.

Are their any socail taboos regarding boy and girl relationships?
Boys and girls are not allowed to show any affection towards one another while in public. This is less enforced if the couple happens to be married, but it is still frowned upon.
This usually forces relationships between boys and girls to take place in private home settings,
with the paretns consent.
Does Islam play a dominant role in Iranian society?
Religion plays a major role on how Iran's society is structured, and is seen as the law of the land in the eyes of the govnerment.
This also discourages non muslims from going into certain careers that tend have a religious bias, which is primarly seen in public sector jobs.
What typically makes up the Iranian cuisine?
Iran's cuisine is very diverse, with various different regional dishes. Iran's national is chelo kabaab, which consists of rice combined with grilled tomatoes, peppers, and skewerd lamb meat.
Iranians also incorporate numerous different fruits and vegatables into their daily diet, which include: melons, plums, pmergrantes, grapes, onions, eggplant, zucchni, and beans. Yogurt is also a stablee of the Iranian diet.
What sports are primarly played in Iran today?
Iran has various different sports that people particiapate in. Iran is the birthplace of the horsebacked sport of Polo. Even though football (soccer) is the most widely played gamed throughout the country, free-style wrestling is considered the national sport.
Volleyball is also a popular sport amongst the people of Iran and very popular among young males. The women's soccer team in Iran is consisder one of the best in the world, but due to religious restrictions, they have been disqualified from many world cup tournaments.
Do boys and girls receive the same compulsory education?
Yes, but boys and girls must attend school for eight years. These eight years of compulsory education are paid for by the government and similar to America's grade school system. However, girls and boys both have their own seperate schools.
High school is not mandatory for children in Iran, but the government insists that children complete and receive a high school diploma. High school is divided into therortical (university), technical (medical, engineering), and mechanical(industrial) divisions.
How is the political relationship between Iran and the U.S.?
Iran and the U.S. do not offically have any realtions with one another ever since the American embassy was destroyed during the Iranina revolution in 1979. In recent years the world community has drawn their attention towards Iran nuclear program and are questioning its true intentions.
Ever since the 1979 revoltuion in Iran, America has had ecconomic sanctions on Iran and hopes that this will force them to accept Americans growing interests in the region. However, with the growing demand of oil in the world, Iran had not been extremely affected by America's attempts to stagnate its economy.
What is the current age divide in Iran, and how could this cause a problem?
Over half of the poulation of Iran is under the age of thirty and most of them do not believe in the present form of government, which has resulted in several demonstrations around the counrty. The most recent of which was seen during the 2009 presidential elections
Unemployment is high amongst this age group and this had also led to the rapid developement of anti-government political groups in the country. They hope that the up and coming Presidential elections in 2013 will bring in a new government that will reform the religious dogma that has taken over the counrty.

1. Iran has recently just released the two detained hikers,Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal, after being help in an Iranina prison for over two years.
2. President Mahmoud Admedinejad traveled to the United Nations last week to help back the Palestinian propsal for statehood. He also gave a speech to the U.N. assembly, which the U.S. delegation walked out of.
3. Iran contines to develope its nuclear energy program and is planning on expanding its nuclear enrichment facility in Qom over the next year.
