When Andy got stabbed and layed on the cold wet alley he could hear the sounds of automobiles tires hushed on the rain swept streets. It showed that Andy felt helpless. He saw plenty of oppurtunity's for help but none helped him out. Andy felt that he was going to be saved , but at the end no one helped him

On the Sidewalk bleeding is about a young man by the name of Andy. Andy is stuck in the life of urban gangs, he is a part of a gang called The Royals. He gets stabbed in the stomach in the middle of a street rumble against a rival gang. He starts hallucinating of his girlfriend Laura. Numerous times people come along to help him but always back down. After Andy got stabbed he instantly regrett joining the royals. He no longer wanted to be a royal he wanted to Andy.

He wanted to just be Andy again.

The Cop

The Cop plays a big role in this story. He is the one who identify s Andy as no just a person but a royal. "A Royal, huh?" This quote shows that there is no sympathy for gang members in this world.

Literary analysis lets you dig deeper.

Literary Analysis

Main Conflict

The main conflict is when Andy gets stabbed in the stomach. He battles and battles his hardest to see another day in his life. When help arrives , they don't want to help because of the significance of his jacket. They find out hes a royal gang member. Therefore, don't want to put themselves in danger.

Literary analysis to me lets you show key elements of writing and reading of the SIFT method. It also lets you dig deeper into the story and the authors work.

On The Sidewalk Bleeding

Tone

The authors tone in this story is irony throughout the entire story. Like at the start he said that it was a "fierce rumble" and he was acting all tough because he was a royal. Then he discovered that the only reason he was jumped was because he was a royal. Then the last thing he wanted to do was not to associated with the Royals and his last dyeing energy was used on taking the jacket off that caused his death.

Laura

Laura is Andy's girlfriend in the sidewalk bleeding. Andy is trying to survive the stab wound all to just see Laura. He is getting motivated to see her on more time. She is also the only person to give Andy sympathy in the entire story. Laura knows him as Andy, not a Royal.

Symbolism

Andy's jacket is a part of symbolism. It shows that he has given up his identity as Andy and is now just a royal. The colors of his jacket represent that he is a part of the royals. It represents the significance of his gang and his friends.

Theme

Thank you !

By: Isidro Orozco

The theme of the story is dealing with death. Death i something we all have to deal with.

Most Fascinating

The most fascinating part to me was how can someone who is in a street gang , want sympathy after he messes up. Andy was the one who wanted to be a part of the Royals, and he paid the ultimate price for it.

Figures of speech

"He watched the world passing by at the other end of the ally". He saw a lot of passing stuff, but still felt helpless because he couldn't get any help.
