Deadline Dates

The 2018-2019 waiver application will be available for all quarter students beginning July 1st - September 20th, 2018.

• If you happen to miss this deadline, don't fret! The UC SHIP Waiver is available at the beginning of every quarter.

Semester students: Please check your academic calendar or visit the student health website for appropriate deadline dates.

The Ashe Center

• Conveniently located at the heart of campus, The Ashe Center is a fully accredited facility designed to meet our student population's health needs.

• Services include: primary care, women's health, immunizations, lab services, pharmacy, physical therapy, specialty clinics and more!

• If you are unable to make an appointment, visit the ASAP Clinic for same-day walk-in care.

Waiving UC SHIP

• Hours of operation and more can be found via our website: www.studenthealth.ucla.edu

• If you are currently insured and do not wish to keep UC SHIP as dual coverage, you may be eligible to apply for an annual UC SHIP waiver.

What is UC SHIP?

BruinCare

• The waiver application can be accessed through the student health website or through the BruinBill.

For only $60 per quarter (or $90 per semester for Law and Medical students), students get unlimited access to these core services during the academic year:

• UC SHIP is a comprehensive insurance plan that covers medical, vision, dental, behavioral health and pharmaceutical care for UC students.

• Ashe Primary Care Provider visits at no out-of-pocket cost​
• ASAP Clinic visits (Same-day access plan)
• Ashe Specialist visits for $40
• In-house X-Rays at no out-of-pocket cost
• In-house Lab testing (certain pregnancy, UTI, HIV and Strep testing) at no out-of-pocket cost
• Female Pap Smear (not including STI testing)
• Wound care / ear irrigation
• Consultation with dietitian
• Flu shot immunizations

• For additional assistance, be sure to review the waiver criteria sheet as well as the pre-waiver worksheet.

*Note: BruinCare is NOT insurance & is only available for those who have successfully waived out of UC SHIP.

• All students are automatically enrolled into UC SHIP and may apply for a waiver should they wish to opt out of the student health plan.

Mobile App

• Anthem has launched a mobile application in lieu of tangible ID cards.

• Students can download the mobile app (StudentHealth) to access their medical ID information.

To register, download the app via the App Store or Google Play and include:

- First, Last Name

- Student ID number (social security numbers are NEVER used)

- Birthdate

Health Clearance & Immunization Requirement

• All newly-admitted incoming UCLA students must provide documentation of vaccination or immunity to certain infectious diseases.

(MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Meningitis, TB)

• Students can satisfy these requirements through

the Ashe Secure Patient Portal (self-certify)
